Welcome! On this site you will be learning about the different types of disabilities. Many of your classmates and maybe even you have a disability. Over the next few days you will have the chance to take a look at your own disabilities and/or the disabilities of others, and find out what they are really about. You will be looking at the disability, the characteristics of the disability, causes, what can help, and a number of other things. This should be a great learning opportunity for you to understand yourself and others better. Good luck!!!

Our Goals:
Learn about your disabilities and/or the disabilities of others.
Understand how each disability affects your learning or the learning of others.
Begin gaining awareness of future goals and how to reach them.
Recognize methods/ways to help people with disabilities/you do better in school.

Procedures For Disability Research Assignment

You will be researching your disability or disabilities. This is NOT a huge research paper; I just want to make sure you understand what your disability is and how it affects you and your learning. Your assignment requires you to research ALL of your disabilities. If you only have one disability, you must choose one other disability to research as well.

You need to research the following things:
1. What does the disability acronym (LD = learning disability, ADD = attention deficit disorder) stand for and what does that mean (a definition and description of the disability)?

2. Explain each in your own words. (How does it make you feel?)

3. How does this disability affect they way you or another would learn and perform at school?

4. What are some things that can be done to help someone with this disability with learning (this includes things that you, parents, teachers, and others can do)?

5. How might this disability affect the future of the person (college, job, life)?

6. List two more unique/other facts about the disability you are studying.

And answer this question: Do you need to practice things to help you in order to improve on your disability? Why?
